Friday Results (May 20)

Gas City I-69 Speedway

The lights were finally on once again at Gas City I-69 Speedway on Friday night when the United States Auto Club AMSOIL National Sprint Cars returned to the 1/4 mile bull ring.

At the end of the night it was local driver Scotty Weir getting the win and his first ever USAC sprint car victory after a spirited battle with Brady Bacon similar to the battle we seen involving Bacon, Dave Darland and Thomas Meseraull in the same event in 2015.

Bacon hung on for second after losing the lead in the closing laps as Kevin Thomas Jr., coming off a win at Kokomo on Sunday, rounded out the podium after charging from the 14th starting position. Max McGhee and Tyler Courtney rounded out the top five.

The USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars are back in action tomorrow night at Brownstown. Sprints will return to Gas City for Indiana Midget Week following Memorial Day.
