World of Outlaws gear up for three Indiana shows in May

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will embrace a month dear to the Hoosier state when it comes to motorsports. The series will visit three different Indiana tracks this month, here is a look at each event.

The series will begin its Indiana tour on Friday, May 13 when it visits Plymouth Speedway for the first time in track history.

The track had expected to host the series in October of last year but delays with the ongoing improvements being made at the facility caused the event to be postponed until this year.

Saturday, May 14 will see the series shift south to Haubstadt and Tri-State Speedway, where we saw a spirited battle last year between Brady Bacon and Paul McMahan. McMahan eventually triumphed in the closing laps winning his second feature in as many years at TSS.

Other recent winners at TSS include: Tim Kaeding, Craig Dollansky and Sammy Swindell.

Joining the World of Outlaws that night will be the UMP modifieds. To reserve tickets for that event call 812-768-6025.

The third and final series event in Indiana during the month of May will be on the high banks of the Lawrenceburg Speedway. The event will take place on Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day).

Paul McMahan picked up the win last year at The Burg. Prior to last years event, Donny Schatz had won the previous two series events at the track.

Entering the month of May, Brad Sweet leads the championship points race by 97 points over Larson Marks driver Shane Stewart. Rounding out the top five in points are Donny Schatz, Joey Saldana and Daryn Pittman.

Sweet has tallied five wins so far in 2016 along with Schatz. The series' next event will be tonight at Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois.
