No Way Out 40 Results

Mother nature provided for great racing at Brownstown Speedway tonight for the start of the 2016 Indiana sprint car season. 38 cars took part in the No Way Out 40 in honor of the late Jesse Hockett.

At the end of the night it was Bryan Clauson collecting the $7500 prize in race #34 of his 200 race endeavor in 2016. 2015 No Way Out 40 winner Robert Ballou finished 2nd & Kyle Cummins finished 3rd. Dave Darland who had to come from one of the two B-Mains after engine troubles in his heat raced his way to 4th while Jon Stanbrough rounded out the Top 5.

Shane Cottle and Robert Ballou led the field to the green in the 40 lap feature in what was a frantic start with a lot of moving and shaking. Ballou quickly jumped out to a lead but Cummins showed he had a car capable of winning moving to the 2nd spot before an early caution. After halfway Cummins was able to get past Ballou however just short of lap 30 he got up and over the cushion and was able to keep forward progress but handed the lead back to Ballou.

While all of that was going on Clauson was able to use traffic to his advantage and was able to get past Ballou inside of 10 to go and take the checkers first. The win is Clauson's second victory in the race as he also won the 2014 edition of the No Way Out 40.

During qualifying Max McGhee set a new track record with a time of 13.408 seconds.
