MSCS to crown champion on Saturday

The stage is set for the season finale at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt on Saturday night when it will host the final race of the 2016 Midwest Sprint Car Series season with the feature deciding the 2016 series champion.

Entering the series' final race of the season, Brady Short leads the championship standings by 28 points over Tyler Hewitt while Brandon Morin sits 32 points back of Short.

Short, the defending MSCS champion as well as the 2011 series champ, has not collected a win in MSCS action this season but has climbed his way to the top of the standings behind a steady diet of consistent finishes.

However, all three drivers could face stiff competition on Saturday night from other drivers. Kyle Cummins has the hot hand at TSS this year where he owns three wins, the latest coming in September where he bested the field in a USAC/MSCS co-sanctioned event. Chase Stockon has also collected multiple wins at TSS this year, both in MSCS sanctioned races. Carson Short, who sits fourth in the MSCS standings, also has a win in Haubstadt in 2016 which he picked up during Indiana Sprint Week in July.

We'll have more information about the race tomorrow in our Weekend Preview.
