Saturday

Top 8 per points accumulated from Thursday/Friday portions are locked into feature.

Top 8 will participate in "King of the Hill" match race event (1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5 with winners advancing in bracket format) in order to establish first four rows of feature. No qualifying for the evening.

Seating -

Track Rules - 
  • Carry-in of coolers, beverages, food is prohibited. 
  • Pass outs are allowed.
  • Movement between the pits and grandstands is allowed with purchase of pit pass.
  • Seats may be marked (No tape or zip ties).
  • 4-Wheelers are not permitted outside of the pit area
  • Golf carts allowed. Drivers must be at least 16 years old
Alcohol -

Available outside of turn 4 at the end of the main grandstands in the Turn 5 Pub.

Souvenirs -

Kokomo Speedway maintains a track souvenir shop under the main grandstands, located to your right when entering the main gate. Driver/team souvenir trailers are located outside the main gate along souvenir row. 

Camping - 

Camping is allowed at Kokomo Speedway however there are no hookups. The camping area is located outside of turn four in front of the large white Kokomo Grain facility with a smaller area located behind the track.

Campers can start setting up on Sunday at 6 pm. 

Track History -

Kokomo Speedway is a 1/4 mile, semi-banked clay oval. The track first opened in 1947 in Kokomo, Indiana and typically runs on Sunday evenings. Various racing legends have turned laps at the track including AJ Foyt, Parnelli Jones, Mario Andretti, Rich Vogler, Jack Hewitt and Steve Kinser.

More recently drivers such as JJ Yeley, Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson, Jeff Gordon and the late Tony Elliott have raced at "Indiana's Baddest Bullring". 

Dave Darland is the all-time winningest driver in track history, surpassing Tony Elliott during Indiana Sprint Week in 2014.

Food

One of the more popular places to eat in Kokomo among race fans is the Half Moon Restaurant & Brewery at 4051 S. Lafountain St.

Also located all along 931 to the east of the track are various fast food restaurants including: Hardee's, Wendy's, McDonald's, White Castle, Subway and Arby's.

Other restaurants also along 931 include Fazoli's, Steak N Shake, Chili's and more.

Event History

The 2022 USAC Sprint Car Smackdown will be the 11th time the event has been run at the historic Kokomo Speedway.

The event was first ran in 2012 when the late Bryan Clauson edged Tracy Hines to take home the Kokomo Speedway USAC Sprint Car Smackdown I title. Since 2012, Dave Darland, Kokomo Speedway's all-time winningest driver, has captured three Sprint Car Smackdown titles while fellow Hoosier Tyler Courtney has also captured three. Below is a list of feature winners from each of the first ten years of the event which continues to grow every year. Since the event's inception, Saturday night has paid the winner $10,000 to win until 2021 when Justin Grant took home $15,000.
