Bloomington Speedway

After numerous rain outs early in the season, cars were finally back on track last Friday night at Bloomington for the Josh Burton Memorial in which Cullman, Alabama's Kevin Thomas Jr. picked up the victory.

Fans will look for more of the same this weekend as sprints are once again in action along with the return of the 305 RaceSaver class as well after they traveled to Twin Cities Raceway Park last weekend.

The ILMS late models will also be on display on Friday evening.

Saturday, June 3

Lincoln Park Speedway

Sprints are in action yet again on Saturday night in Putnamville as the track hosts one of its Little Feet Bike Challenges. Kids (ages 5-13) are encouraged to bring their bikes to race around the track with the winners of three different age groups winning a new bike.

Last weekend it was AJ Hopkins picking up the win at LPS on the heals of a strong second place finish in the Josh Burton Memorial at Bloomington Speedway the night prior.

Super stocks, modifieds and bombers will be joining the non-wing sprint cars.

Paragon Speedway

After taking the holiday weekend off, Paragon Speedway will be back in action Saturday night.

Travis Welpott picked up the victory in the only race in Paragon so far in 2017.

This Saturday night along with the sprint cars the track will host a $2500 to win hornet feature as well as well as super stocks, pure stocks and bombers.

South Bend Motor Speedway

For our pavement fans, the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints kick off their 2017 season on Friday night at Kalamazoo Speedway and then venture into Indiana for their first of multiple visits on Saturday when they visit the historic South Bend Motor Speedway.

Aaron Pierce enters the season as the defending champion in the series after holding off Jason Blonde in 2016.

Also in action on Saturday night in South Bend, outlaw late models, FWDs, FWD hornets and street stocks.

Kokomo Speedway

Dave Darland has had somewhat of a rough start to his 2017 campaign but the all time wins leader at Kokomo Speedway got back on track Monday night when he picked up the victory in Bryan Clauson's Indiana Double.

This Sunday, the speedway will be back in action once again with Kids Night.

Weekend Preview: May 26-29

Friday, May 26

Bloomington Speedway

Bloomington Speedway is set to host the Josh Burton Memorial on Friday night in honor of the local sprint car driver who passed away after an accident at the track in 2013.

The event has become one of the most popular at the track since its inception and with no other sprint car racing in Indiana on Friday, should provide plenty of big names and great action on the track.

The winner of Friday nights feature will pick up a $3504 paycheck, while just starting the feature will earn drivers $404. The race also serves as part of the Indiana Sprint Car Series and will be shown on MAVTV on a later date.

Modifieds, super stocks and hornets will also be in action.

Saturday, May 27

Anderson Speedway

On Saturday evening Anderson Speedway hosts the most famous pavement sprint car race of them all, the 69th Annual Pay Less Little 500 presented by UAW-GM.

This year's edition of the Little 500 promises to be one for the books with an entry list of over 40 cars packed with stars trying to make the 33 car field.

Former winners Jacob Wilson, Kody Swanson, Chris Windom and Brian Tyler all look to be factors in this years race along with veterans such as Jerry Coons Jr, Aaron Pierce, Bobby Santos, Shane Cottle and plenty more.

The entry list also boasts a number of notable rookies such as Indiana native CJ Leary as well as former NASCAR stars and USAC champions Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader.

Action gets underway as the track hosts practice for all teams on Wednesday with Little 500 Pole Day taking place tomorrow. Bump Day takes place on Friday and will round out the field.

Lincoln Park Speedway

The Midwest Sprint Car Series (MSCS) will have a doubleheader this weekend and night #1 will take place in Putnamville at Lincoln Park Speedway where the winner will collect $2500.

Leading the charge into LPS is Carson Short who holds a four point advantage  in the MSCS standings over Brady Short. Brandon Morin sits third, 34 points back, while Kyle Cummins and Dakota Jackson round out the top five.

Twin Cities Raceway Park

Sprint cars will make a rare appearance at Twin Cities Raceway Park on Saturday night when the tracks hosts the Indiana RaceSaver Sprint Series.

Saturday's trip will be the first of two trips the 305s will make to North Vernon this season, their other trip coming on August 26. The track has made a number of improvements in the offseason and the product on the track continues to improve each week.

Hornets, pure stocks, super stocks and crate late models will be joining the 305s on Saturday evening.

Sunday, May 28

Kokomo Speedway

Kokomo Speedway will host non-wing sprint cars on Sunday night as well as midgets when they host Bryan Clauson's Indiana Double

Clauson made the race famous by running both the Indianapolis 500 and sprint car event at Kokomo on the same day multiple times, picking up the win last year after finishing P23 in the 500.

Sunday will be the first race at Kokomo since Tyler Thomas was crowned the "King of Kokomo" back on May 7.

Tri-State Speeedway

The Midwest Sprint Car Series will have the back end of its weekend doubleheader on Sunday night in Haubstadt.

Current series points leader Carson Short dominated when the series lasted visited Tri-State Speedway on May 13. Short set the fastest time in qualifying, won his heat and then picked up the feature win over Brady Short and Brandon Morin.

UMP modifieds as well as the MMSA mini-sprints will also take to the track in Haubstadt on Sunday evening.

Monday, May 29

Lawrenceburg Speedway

Rounding out an action packed weekend full of racing, the Craftsman World of Outlaws visit the high banks of Lawrenceburg Speedway on Monday night for the Memorial Day Spectacular presented by KOI Auto Parts.

Last year it was Shane Stewart picking up the victory after an exciting race in which he had to hold off challenges from David Gravel and Rico Abreu to hold onto the win.

Other recent winners of the event include Paul McMahan (2015), Donny Schatz (2014, 2013) and Chad Kemenah (2012).

Wednesday, May 24

Terre Haute Action Track

After rained washed out both of their events last weekend, the United States Auto Club AMSOIL National Sprint Cars return to action Wednesday night for the Tony Hulman Classic at the Terre Haute Action Track.

Wednesday night will kick off a big week for USAC with the Silver Crown series running both the Hoosier Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Thursday as well as the Carb Night Classic at Lucas Oil Raceway on Friday ahead of the Indianapolis 500 this weekend.

Justin Grant still sits atop the standings entering Wednesday night. The Ione, California native currently holds a 66 point lead over Chad Boespflug while Chris Windom sits third in the standings, 86 points behind Grant. Chase Stockon and Tyler Courtney round out the top five.

Robert Ballou is the defending Tony Hulman Classic winner, having won the event the last two years in a row. Ballou, whom just returned to racing action after a major injury in 2016, also won the series' most recent event on May 13 at Eldora Speedway in Ohio. If Ballou can manage to pull off his third consecutive Hulman Classic victory on Wednesday night he will be the first driver in history to do so.

Friday, May 12

Bloomington Speedway

The Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) Sprint Car Series is slated to make its first trip into Indiana in 2017 this weekend when the series takes on the red clay of Bloomington Speedway on Friday night.

The MOWA sprints will be the only sprint action in Bloomington this weekend as both the non-wing sprints as well as the 305 RaceSaver class have the weekend off.

Entering the weekend, Brad Loyet has a 24 point advantage in the points over Paul Nienhiser who sits second in the standings while Jimmy Moughan sits 30 points back of Loyet. However, Loyet is not expected to compete in Indiana this weekend.

Modifieds as well as super stocks will join the MOWA sprint cars on Friday night.

Saturday, May 13

Tri-State Speedway

Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt will host two straight nights of action this weekend and the action kicks off Saturday when the track hosts both the MSCS non-wing sprint cars as well as the MOWA winged sprints.

This will be the second trip to TSS for the Midwest Sprint Car Series in 2017 after co-sanctioning an event with USAC in April in which Chris Windom picked up the victory.

Entering the weekend, Jarett Andretti leads the MSCS points while both Brady and Carson Short sit tied just two points behind Andretti. Max McGhee and Dakota Jackson round out the top five in points.

Meanwhile, the Midwest Open Wheel Association will make its first of two trips to Haubstadt in 2017. The series made multiple trips to TSS last year with Jerrod Hull and Hunter Schuerenberg picking up victories.

Tri-State Speedway

Hoosiers will get one more chance to see sprints in action on Sunday when the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is in action in Haubstadt.

It will be the third race in three nights for the Outlaws after having completed a double header at Eldora Speedway in Ohio the previous two nights.

Entering the weekend, Donny Schatz holds a 60 point lead over David Gravel in the points with Brad Sweet sitting third in the standings, 92 points behind Schatz.

Schatz has scored eight victories on the season, the most in the series, winning his seventh and eighth last weekend. David Gravel has the second most victories with five and picked up the victory the last time the Outlaws visited Haubstadt back in 2016.

The MMSA mini sprints will join the Outlaws.

Montpelier Motor Speedway Rained Out

The issues with Mother Nature that have plagued Bloomington Speedway this year have plagued Montpelier Motor Speedway as well with the track having to cancel or postpone multiple events during a wet April.

However, this weekend track officials are hoping to get back in action when it hosts the Midwest Sprint Car Series. Entering the weekend, Jarett Andretti holds a two point advantage over defending series champion Brady Short and Carson Short while Max McGhee and Dakota Jackson sit fourth and fifth in the standings after two events.

UMP modifieds, super streets and thunder cars will also be in action on Saturday night in Montpelier.

Bloomington Speedway Rained Out

Bloomington Speedway will try to get back on track this Friday as Mother Nature forced the speedway to cancel the racing program last weekend.

This weekend the track will be running both the 410 non-wing class and 305 RaceSavers as well as hosting the Summit Racing American Modified Series in the JB Robinson Memorial.

In the only action at Bloomington this season so far it was Chad Boespflug getting the win when the USAC sprint cars visited on April 14 while Ryan Tusing picked up the 305 victory.

Tri-State Speedway Rained Out

The Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will double up on action within the Hoosier State this weekend when they drive south from Plymouth to Haubstadt to take on Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night.

Last year it was David Gravel stealing a win from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Brady Bacon late in the race to get the victory at "The Class Track". Bacon would finish second and Parker Price-Miller would round out the podium.

In recent years Paul McMahan, Tim Kaeding and Craig Dollansky have also collected wins in Haubstadt when the Outlaws come to town.

Modifieds will once again join the WoO sprint cars as the support class.

Saturday is Healthcare Worker Night at the speedway. Any healthcare employee that presents proper identification will be admitted free of charge.

Kokomo Speedway

Non-wing sprint cars return to Kokomo Speedway on Sunday for the first time since the Kokomo Grand Prix earlier this month, this time drivers will be racing for the King of Kokomo crown.

Justin Grant swept both nights of sprint car competition during the Kokomo Grand Prix and will hope to run his win streak at Kokomo to three on Sunday. Kevin Thomas Jr. is the defending champion of the event after racing his way to a King of Kokomo win in 2016.

Terre Haute Action Track

The Midwest Sprint Car Series is back in action on Sunday as the Terre Haute Action Track hosts 410 non-wing sprint cars for the first time in 2017.

Entering the weekend, Jarett Andretti leads the MSCS points standings by two points over Brady Short after two events.

Also in the top five in the standings entering Sunday are Carson Short, Max McGhee and Dakota Jackson.

UMP modifieds will also be in action in Terre Haute on Sunday.

Friday, April 21

Bloomington Speedway Rained Out

Bloomington Speedway is back to business as usual this Friday after hosting the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars last weekend.

Chad Boespflug bested Chris Windom in a dramatic side by side battle over the final few laps to win what was also Bloomington Speedway's season opener while Ryan Tusing won the 305 RaceSaver feature.

This weekend Bloomington will host both classes of sprint cars as well as TQs and hornets.

Plymouth Speedway

The USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars return to action on Friday night when they take on Plymouth Speedway.

Entering the event Justin Grant still leads the points after two more top five finishes last weekend at Bloomington and Haubstadt. Grant, whom has finished no worse than fourth in any of the first five USAC sprint car races this season, holds a two point lead over Chad Boespflug.

Chris Windom, after picking up his second USAC national sprint car win of the season last weekend, has also entered the early season points battle sitting 39 points out of the lead in third place.

UMP modifieds and mod lites will also be on display Friday evening in Plymouth.

Montpelier Motor Speedway Rained Out

The USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars will double down on action once again this weekend as they follow up Friday's event with another show on Saturday night. This time they will take on the Montpelier Motor Speedway.

It will be the series' second trip to the track after making their inaugural visit in 2016 when eventual series champion Brady Short picked up the victory.

UMP modifieds, super streets and thunder cars will join the sprint cars on Saturday.

Lincoln Park Speedway

Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville returns to action Saturday night and will feature sprint cars as part of the program for their Bomber Spring Fling event.

Last weekend we saw Kody Swanson pick up his first Indiana sprint car victory at LPS.

As mentioned before, bombers will be in action Saturday as well as super stocks and UMP modifieds.

Lawrenceburg Speedway Rained Out

The Kelsey Chevrolet sprint cars return to the high banks of Lawrenceburg on Saturday evening as the track hosts Service Men & Women Night. Any veteran or current armed forces member along with firefighters, police officers or EMS workers who present proper identification will be admitted for free.

Last weekend it was Nick Bilbee picking up his first win of the season. Entering Saturday's action Justin Owen has the early season lead in the track championship points. Owen leads by just 10 points over Michael Fischesser while former track champion Shawn Westerfeld sits 15 points behind Owen.

UMP modifieds, pure stocks and hornets will also be in action.

Weekend Preview: April 14-15

Friday, April 14

Bloomington Speedway

After taking last weekend off the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars return to action this Friday night at Bloomington Speedway.

Justin Grant continues to lead in the series points standings after a third place finish at Lawrenceburg Speedway on April 1. The driver of the Sam McGhee Motorsports #11 has finished on the podium in each of the first three USAC national sprint car races in 2017 and is the hottest driver in the state entering Friday night after sweeping both sprint car features at Kokomo last weekend against stout competition.

Chad Boespflug enters Friday's action second in the standings 14 points behind Grant while Chase Stockon sits in third place, 53 points behind.

The late Bryan Clauson picked up the victory in the April race at Bloomington last year while in the series' most recent visit to the track we saw a first time series winner when Brent Beauchamp took the victory during Indiana Sprint Week. 

The 305 RaceSavers will kick off their race season at Bloomington on Friday and mini-sprints will also join in on the action.

Saturday, April 15

Tri-State Speedway

Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt kicks off their season on Saturday night when they host the Spring Showdown, a co-sanctioned event featuring both the USAC and MSCS sprint cars.

The last time the two series came together at the track was last September for the Haubstadt Hustler. Kyle Cummins picked up the win that night, the second USAC victory of his career after picking up his first at Kokomo Speedway last season during Indiana Sprint Week.

The event serves as the second Midwest Sprint Car Series event of the season after they kicked off their 2017 campaign last weekend at Lincoln Park Speedway where Thomas Meseraull won in dominating fashion.

UMP modifieds will also be in action in Haubstadt on Saturday night.

Lincoln Park Speedway

Cars will be on the loud pedal in Putnamville again this weekend as LPS hosts their weekly program on Saturday.

Thomas Meseraull was dominant last Saturday in the season opener as he drove away from the rest of the field en route to a $4,000 pay day. If you missed the action last weekend you can catch it all on Jackslash.com.

This weekend the track will also host the MMSA mini sprints as well as modifieds, bombers and super stocks.

The Kelsey Chevrolet sprint cars are back in action Saturday night on the high banks of Lawrenceburg Speedway for Scout Night. Any scout member (ages 12 & under) entering the gate in uniform will be admitted for free.

Last weekend it was Landon Simon dominating the feature ahead of Justin Owen and former track champion Shawn Westerfeld. Simon led every lap of the feature on the way to his first win of 2017.

UMP modifieds, pure stocks and hornets will also be in action Saturday night.

Friday, April 7

Bloomington Speedway (CANCELLED)

Racing returns to the red clay of Bloomington Speedway on Friday evening when the track hosts its 2017 season opener.

Last season we saw a great battle for the track championship between Jeff Bland and Brady Short. In the end it was Bland winning the title by 45 points over Short while Jordan Kinser finished third in the standings.

Bland returns to defend his title this year against 6-time track champion Brady Short. Also planning to run the full slate in 2017 is Elizabethtown's Dakota Jackson who could be a factor in the title battle along with a number of other Bloomington regulars.

In 305 sprint cars it was Jared Fox taking home the 2016 title after narrowly defeating Luke Bland, by nine points, in the standings. 305 RaceSavers will not be in action on Friday night but modifieds and super stocks will join the non-wing sprint cars.

Kokomo Speedway

"Indiana's Baddest Bullring" kicks off its 2017 campaign on Saturday night with night number one of the two day Kokomo Grand Prix which features the USAC National Midgets as well as the Kokomo 410 non-wing sprint cars. Originally slated for Friday, night one of the Kokomo Grand Prix had to be moved to Saturday because of weather concerns.

Saturday night will be the first of 18 scheduled non-wing sprint car events at Kokomo Speedway this season.

If you are unable to attend on Saturday you can catch all of the action on Speed Shift TV which will broadcast both the midget and sprint car action live.

Lincoln Park Speedway

The Midwest Sprint Car Series (MSCS) begins its season on Saturday night in Putnamville for IndianaOpenWheel.com Racin' Fest. The event also serves as the season opener for LPS as well as race one of the Indiana Sprint Car Series for MAVTV.

The MSCS event is the first of 17 scheduled events for the series. Saturday night's feature winner will collect $4,000. Brady Short is the returning series champion after winning his third series title in 2016 while Shane Cockrum is the reigning track champion.

2016 saw Jarett Andretti collect his first Lawrenceburg track championship after a spirited season-long battle with former track champion, Joss Moffatt.

Anderson Speedway

There will also be some pavement sprint car action Saturday night when Anderson Speedway hosts the 100 lap Glen Niebel Classic.

Aaron Pierce won the event in 2016 followed by Chris Neuenschwander and Geoff Kaiser. Travis Welpott and Don Hamilton rounded out the top five last year.

The Top Speed Modified Tour, FastKarts and thunder cars will also be in action on Saturday night.

Kokomo Speedway

Racing continues on Sunday evening at Kokomo Speedway for night number two of the Kokomo Grand Prix featuring the USAC National Midgets as well as non-wing sprint cars. Originally slated for Saturday, day two of the Kokomo Grand Prix has been shifted to Sunday due to weather concerns.
